A GREAT PROJECT

A GREAT SCIENCE PROJECT FOR OUR FEATHERED FRIENDS

Our school is in an area that has different species of birds so we decided to design birdfeeders from recycled materials such as empty milk cartons and plastic bottles which will allow us to view the pretty birds up close .

Making bird feeders is a fun way for our kids to get to know which birds are native to our school area, and a great way to help out our feathered friends when their food sources are scarce in winter-time.

The number and variety of birds that visit our schoolyard can be influenced  by the way that we provide food. The success of a bird feeder in attracting birds depends upon its placement and different types of bird seeds offered as different species have different preferences.

Hanging bird feeders from the tree branches,  placing them in different places around the schoolyard and at different heights increase the number and types of birds that will visit our yard.

This project is an excellent way for getting birds to our school property so that we can enjoy them.
